Data-Driven Decision-Making

The world is rapidly shifting towards data-driven decision-making (DDDM).This helps pinpoint the needs and formulate effective and efficient strategies using facts and evidences. Development is often puzzling because of insufficient knowledge and evidences. This resulted in investing quite amount of money in programs and strategies which may not have desired impact. Data can solve most of the puzzles, if collected, measured, and interpreted appropriately.

Although, data-driven decision-making sounds compelling, it often poises great risk if “bad” data is used or data is used “badly”. At one-fold, it is very easy for data to get noisy or mismeasured if not controlled for quality or measured in the wrong way.

On the other hand, data can mislead if interpreted in a wrong way. For policy formulation, often primary data is collected; and it is very important that the data is collected in a structured way following the appropriate method and maintaining the highest possible quality.

Digital data collection and real-time data monitoring have been playing key roles in data quality control and appropriate measurements. Digital data collection allows to impose logical checks during data collection as well as makes the process easier for the data collectors by automatically creating the desired question flow.

At the same time, digital data collection allows monitor data near real-time leveraging technical tools such as Stata, Python, R, Google sheet, or Power BI.
