Bangladesh is one of the largest deltas of the world, built by the confluence of mighty Ganges, Brahmaputra, and the Meghna rivers. Owing to the deltaic formation, the configuration of the rivers, and the challenges posed by climate change, Bangladesh has been ranked as the 5th most vulnerable country in the world in terms of risks from natural hazards.

The country faces major inter-related delta challenges in water safety, food security, water quality, and land degradation. Management of this delta has been a key concern for Bangladesh.
